Dorothy Jean “Dot” Parker Upton, age 81 of New Boston, Texas went home to be with the Lord on April 5, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on November 27, 1943, in MarieOa, Texas.
Dot and her husband, Earl owned and operated Dot’s Grocery and Bait Shop in Old Boston, Texas. She was retired from TISD School District and also had worked as a cook at New Boston Middle School and High School for many years. Aftr she retired from TISD, she began working at Meals on Wheels and helped prepare food at the Oak Terrace Mission.
Dot was a Member of Old Boston Baptist Church and an endowed 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Past Matron of New Boston Chapter No. 700, Order of the Eastern Star and a Past Matron of Maud Chapter No. 879, now consolidated with New Boston Chapter No. 700.
She began her Eastern Star life in Bossier City, Louisiana, where Earl was stationed. She and Earl traveled to many countries during his military career. She joined New Boston Chapter No. 700 on June 27, 1983. In 2007, she became a plural member of Hooks Chapter No. 1031, now consolidated with New Boston Chapter No. 700. She held many different stations during her 50- year membership and served as Worthy Matron twice in New Boston with her husband and once in Maud with her husband. Eastern Star and Masonry was their life for many years!
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Upton, Jr., her father, Charles William Parker; her mother, Dorothy Parker Willis; and a sister, Mary Ann Parker Moore.
Left to cherish her memories are daughter, Terrie Upton Marvin, and husband, Odis; son, Earl Upton, III, “Buddy” Upton. Her granddaughters are Ivy Marie and Morgan Upton and grandsons Aaron and Jeremy Marvin, and several great-grandchildren. Her siblings are Linda Parker Carlile, Gary; Charles Ray Parker, Kristy; Dewayne Parker, DeAnna; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mrs. Upton’s memorial service will be April 26, 2025 at Plentiful Harvest Church, 500 N. Merrill Street, New Boston, Tx at 2:00pm.
