Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $995.5 million in local sales tax allocations for April, 3.5 percent less than in April 2024.
These allocations are based on sales made in February by businesses that report tax monthly.
The biggest benefactor this period in Bowie County is the City of Hooks which received $28,133.87 compared to the $22,506.46 from the same period in 2024 which reflects a 25 percent increase.
The City of Redwater saw an almost 21 percent increase this period compared to last year while other cities in Bowie County like deKalb, New Boston and Texarkana saw a decreased allocation this period compared to a year ago.
While tax allocations county wide were down slightly compared to the same period in 2024, allocations year to date saw a marginal increase.
