The New Boston Chamber of Commerce is hosting a job fair to introduce prospective employers with job seekers in the area. The job fair will be held Tuesday, October 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the New Boston Community Center.
The event is free and open to the public.
“We have invested a lot of time soliciting business-es, local businesses, … and to get potential employees there,” said Scarlett Bray, chamber president. “Everyday I get on Facebook, there’s tons of help wanted and then people asking who’s hiring on ‘What’s Going On’ … Maybe this will bring the two together.”
There are currently 13 businesses from all over the area set up to meet with job seekers from a variety of fields, Bray said.
There will also be a booth set up geared toward helping job seekers write resumes that stand out, complete job applications and how to dress for a job interview.
A table will be set up for local businesses unable to attend to still provide information and applications to job seekers.
Bray said this will be an annual Chamber event.
“It’s just one of the many things we’re trying to do for our members to help give back,” Bray said.
The function of the Chamber of Commerce is to support and promote local businesses. Membership is open to any business in and around New Boston. They have a current membership of 116 businesses.
