Durwood Merrill was planning a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for his downtown New Boston restaurant with a  star-studded lineup of special guests, including MLB veteran umpires Rocky Roe and John Shulock, Detroit Tiger Shane Halter, and Houston Astros pitcher Tony McKnight.

        Ten Years Ago-2011

Bowie County citizens lined US Hwy 82 from Malta all the way through DeKalb holding signs and flags honoring Lance Corporal Tony Yanez as he made his way home to Broken Bow.  Yanez was paralyzed when the military vehicle he was driving struck an explosive device on a road in Afghanistan.
