New Boston named a new city secretary in a special called meeting on April 1, 2019.  Sharmin Hutto of New Boston was selected from over 100 applicants to take the position of city secretary, vacated when interim secretary Tammey Larey went on medical leave. (Larey will resume her duties as administrative assistant upon her return.)
