Mother of three slain in Hooks
Candlelight Service scheduled for tonight behind Hooks Elementary

According to a statement just released by Hooks Police Department Chief Keith Schutte, last night, August 31, 2013,at approx. 11:53 p.m., the Hooks Police Department received a call of a disturbance in progress outside the residence in the 200 block of Grant St. in Hooks.
Upon arrival the responding officer came into contact with both the suspect and the victim. The responding officer observed the victim lying motionless on the ground.
The suspect has been identified as Justin Donell Wright, a Black male, with a date of birth of July 6, 1992. Wright was taken into custody at the scene and then transported to the Bi-State Justice Center in Texarkana and booked on the charge of Murder.
The victim was identified as Whitney Nicole Hanes, age 21.
The victim was taken to the Southwest Forensic Institute in Dallas for Medical Examination.
The Hooks Police Department was assisted in the investigation by officers of the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texarkana Texas Police Department.
A family friend has told the Tribune that Hanes leaves behind three small children and help is needed to take care of them.
The two boys wear size 5T and 3T clothes and the little girl is wearing a size 3T. As well as clothes, diapers are also needed for the smallest child.
